The three day festival will include events and activities hosted by wineries from the Rawsonville, Slanghoek, Goudini and Breede River areas which make up the Breedekloof, just a one-hour drive from Cape Town.
Hot air ballooning, mountain biking, a tagged-fishing contest, stand-up-comedy, Rock 'n Roll, a skaapkop dinner, a night run through the vineyards, art exhibits and a crocodile spitbraai are all on the menu.
Tickets:
Visitors will need to buy a R10 festival pass at the first cellar they visit. The pass will be valid for the weekend and will give visitors access to the festival and entitle them to free wine tastings at the cellars.
Food:
Food will be served to suit all tastes and adventurous eaters can visit Avondrood Private Vineyards for a crocodile spitbraai on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
Another dining attraction is the annual skaapkop and afval dinner dance at Jason's Hill Private Cellar on the Friday.
Seafood lovers will be attracted to De Vette Mossel seafood restaurant which will serve dinner in the lapa at Deetlefs Estate on both nights, as well as a farmers' breakfast on the Saturday. Estate owner Kobus Deetlefs will also present a cheese and wine experience on the hour throughout Saturday.
Katinka van Niekerk will host her popular food and wine pairings at Slanghoek Wine Cellar, which will also operate a traveling kitchen. Goudini Wines has a coffee shop and will serve a breakfast on top of the mountain.
A breakfast in the vineyards and oysters with a bottomless glass of wine will be the attractions at Daschbosch Cellar, while Merwida Wine Cellar will host a snoek braai with roosterkoek, sushi and live music.
Avondrood Mountain Cottage will operate a Grill and Butcher Restaurant, and the Opstal Estate restaurant will serve a special festival menu.
