More about Janet Steer

Janet is a graduate of the Kushi Institute in Becket, Massachusetts. She is recognized by Michio Kushi, the founder of modern Macrobiotics and the Kushi Institute, as a recognized Macrobiotic Teacher and Counselor. She has studied worldwide with leading macrobiotic teachers in macrobiotic cooking, macrobiotic healing, oriental diagnosis and shiatsu.

Janet has travelled the globe attending courses, conferences and seminars in Europe, the USA and Japan, all the while targeting and building a considerable knowledge base in wholefoods, wholefood cookery and nutrition. She has also studied at the Cordon Vert School in England.

Janet's 'break' from her original profession as a chartered accountant began in London (where she resided for seven years until April 2005). A chance encounter with the word 'macrobiotics' in a celebrity magazine sparked an interest that she has pursued passionately. Janet's wish is to assist people in realizing and appreciating the power of food, thereby creating peace, harmony and balance within themselves and in relation to their environment.

Janet is currently involved in and/or offers the following macrobiotic and wholefood services:
* cooking classes
* private and group catering
* workshops, talks and presentations
* individual, group and business consultations

Janet is currently experimenting with and developing snacks based on macrobiotic principles. The intention is to introduce them to the South African market shortly. She continues to 'play' with wholefoods and hopes to record her experiences in a forthcoming book.
