Skeletal model causes a stir

How thin is too thin? Weigh in on this bony, lollipop-head model who walked the Milan runway.

In an industry which appreciates height and slimness, it's surprising that this doesn't happen more often.

Alana Zimmer (sort of) appeared  on the Gianfranco Ferré show in Milan wearing a black V-neck dress which revealed her protruding bones, flat chest and oversized head. With dark eye make-up, pale skin and slicked back hair, the overall effect was jarring.

And scary. And ugly. And – probably most importantly – worrying.

It's a wonder she got the job at all, considering that in 2006, Milan banned models with a BMI of less than 18.5. Good move, I thought – until this?

I get that it’s difficult to keep track of each and every model's height/weight ratio, but I can’t see how someone as – dare I say – anorexic as Alana appears to be could slip through.

This is one model who has probably been eating cotton balls to feel full. Just looking at her makes me crave a burger.
