Mary-Kate and Ashley are in hot water over a new fur backpack from their luxury line, The Row.
The 26-year-old actresses turned designers recently unveiled their new patchwork fur backpack, which goes for more than R 142 000. The bag is also available in calf and alligator skin. Check out the bag here.
PETA blasted the product, saying: “If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it’s probably a Trollsen Twin — or someone wearing one of their new $16,000(R 134 506) totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals. What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it’s the foxes, calves, and alligators — who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain — who pay the dearest price.”
This statement comes after years of the animal rights organisation calling out Mary-Kate and Ashley about the use of fur not just in their fashion lines, but in the twins’ own wardrobe as well.
What does Hollywood have to say?
Celebrity stylist, Rachel Zoe, dubbed the furry creation “a fashion favorite” that combines “comfort with class.”
“Coupled with a blush blouse, skinny jeans and a bold boot, an of-the-moment backpack will bear the weight of your everyday essentials with elegance and ease,” she said on her blog, The Zoe Report.
Also, Jessica Biel recently tweeted a photo of herself wearing the black calfskin version of the bag, which goes for over R320 000, which was a gift to her from the Olsen twins.
I think the Olsen twins…
