QUESTION
I have a challenging task for you and would like your input. I would like to go blonde as I would like a drastic change and this is my story.
Prior to seven weeks ago I had a medium brown hair colour which was dyed at a hairdresser.
Five weeks ago, I went to a hair dresser where I told them my request. This was the beginning of my nightmare. They stripped my whole head and they bleached it - leaving my hair in a variety of reddish and yellowish tones. They then told me that was all they could do - but I knew they wanted to close up and go home. So I was told to come back in two weeks and then they can make me proper blonde.
After crying myself from embarrassment esp the fact that I have to walk around looking like a floozy, I just couldn't do it. I seriously looked terrible and at this stage was fuming at the hairdresser for not taking in a interest.
Two days later in a serious attempt to fix this mess and be able to walk in public, I had a wella - med ash brown demi permanent colour put in my hair by another hairdresser. This is currently now fading and the bleach colour is starting to come through.
This has now been almost 4 weeks, I am bored with my hair and my dream is still to go blonde. I don't want it white blonde or Marilyn Monroe blonde. I know its a gradual process but if it's been done on other ladies, I don't understand why it work on me. How do I dye my hair without damaging it? And how long should it take before my hair is blonde?
I still want to go blonde - can you help me?
I have very strong and healthy hair. I use salon professional shampoos and conditioners and treatments on my hair only. Can you assist me?
ANSWER
Hi there :)
Wow, I am so sorry to hear that you and your hair were treated is such a bad way. It is a stylist like that who gives us a bad name.
The good news is you can definitely still go blonde! I am happy that you are not planning a on a white blond or Marilyn Monroe blond - rather go for a darker caramel blonde as this is easier to achieve and much healthier for your hair.
I will happily assist you to get this look if you come to my salon, Spoilt Hair and Beauty. If you are unable to do so or if you would like to stick to your preferred salon, book for a full head of highlights and make sure they only use 10 volume peroxide. That is all you will need! Then, very important, while the foil is in your hair, they need to apply a dark ash blonde between your foils. Tell them that they need to use a permanent colour, otherwise it will just wash out to the orange colour again.
After the rinse, you need to apply a protein treatment for a few minutes in order to strengthen your hair. Rinse again and then apply a blonde toner or your desired colour choice from a colour chart. If there is still a bit of orange in your hair, the stylist should add some ash.
It is very important to use professionals shampoo and conditioner with protein. Joico has a new product called Colour Therapy which is just amazing. It rebuilds your hair and looks after your colour at the same time - I highly recommend it.
I hope this helps you and that your hair disaster is something of the past!
