I suffered an injury just over a month ago which resulted in an “emergency” 2am hospital visit and seven stitches on my right shin.
While the wound has since healed, there is obviously a bit of scarring.
Can it be minimised?
Thankfully, yes! Many believe in the effectiveness of natural, non-invasive products and procedures in reducing the appearance of scars until they are hardly even visible.
Whether it’s a pimple-picking blemish, a burn mark, stretch marks, keloids or an accident-related dark spot, consider using one of these:
• The treatments listed below are not scientifically proven.
• Results may vary, depending on factors such as depth, severity, age, sex, inheritance and health in general.
Vitamin E oil. Not only is it known to assist with the overall healing process, but consistent application is thought to alleviate scarring too.
Lemon juice. Use it daily, either with your moisturiser or on its own, directly on the mark.
Honey. It’s sticky, but it is said to contain skin-lightening properties. Add a dollop to your moisturiser or apply it directly to affected areas.
Cucumber juice. If it assists with under-eye dark circles, then who am I to raise an eyebrow when it comes to other areas of the body?!
Shea or cocoa butter. Use only 100% natural varieties, though - not the blended and mixed kinds. And, like most , apply regularly for best results.
