Bloggers' paranoia

Candice loves the anonymity of having a blog. But the fact that she gave away some of her details means that she's now slightly paranoid...

Saturday

Dylan rocked the facial. He lay on that table like an heir to Beckham's throne.

When I first spotted him, complete with toweling head band under a giant steamer, I was hit with an overwhelming urge to burst into maniacal laughter, maybe a little rolling eye action, and declare, "He's alive! My metrosexual is alive!"

But I didn't.

After the therapist chick left he checked himself out in the mirror, nodding approvingly.

"I look at least eleven", he deadpanned.

Love my eyelash tint. Like mascara for the dreadfully lazy. I'm sporting my new lashes to Tallie's party tonight; get some eyelash batting practice in. Tallie has a new man and is super excited about throwing a fabulous dinner party so she can swan about looking sexy while his mates rave about her and the Woolies lasagne they think she made. I'm not even being a bitch, she wrote that on the invitation. I assume his friends were sent an edited version.

Need to do a Champagne run before 5pm when it all gets locked away. Bloody Christians starting their Sundays the night before, what's with that?

Sunday

There's something irresistible about blogging to complete strangers. Delicious overshare within absolute anonymity, enticement of attention minus judgment. It's the pull of free reign: you get to blurt out what you honestly think and screw the acceptance you desperately crave. After all, no one knows it's you.

Of course that's until the topic of blogging is raised at a wine soaked dinner party and you blurt out your username because you're an idiot. Enthusiasm for a topic is the ultimate tongue tripper upper. And if that isn't a word now, it was last night.

So there I was, crouched in Tallie's guest toilet, trying to get online on my really-only-need-it-to-make-calls phone. To change my username. The assumption being that someone at the party was going to rush off and search for me online?! Seriously. Which makes me either incredibly paranoid or very, very arrogant.

Obviously, I'm leaning towards paranoid.

On the up side, Tallie's new man is lovely. And the lasagne was a hit.
