One dark and stormy night many years ago, I awoke to find my long-term partner missing from my bed. Wrapping the blankets tightly around me, I quietly crept through the apartment to find what had become of him. The pale light of a computer screen glowed from the dark study.

If you're anything like me, you might enjoy a little X-rated raunchiness without feeling the need to collect a stash of it. Or maybe I'm just lazy – if it happens my way I'll enjoy the ride, but I'm not into buying a monthly ticket.
However.
B's query took me on a journey through the internetwebs in search of straight-girl porn. And boy (oh, oh boy), did I find it.
Sure, it wasn't as prolific as, say, 'xxxgirlslikecocks' x50 000 on any given mainstream porn google, but there's certainly enough of it to keep one busy for a while.
And it's far more interesting than the usual drivel regurgitated by man porn. From cliterature to video, it quickly becomes clear that there's a marked difference in emphasis on who enjoys what in man porn and girl porn.
For example, if mainstream man porn were any indication of what turns a heterosexual woman on, you'd think we could all be brought to toe-curling orgasm via maniacal frigging of the clit and hour-long sessions of mindless rutting, stopping only for a session of choke-inducing deep-throating and rigourous anal.
But then, women's pleasure is hardly the emphasis in most mainstream skin flicks.
On the other hand, erotica directed at women has women – both as consumers and actors – centre stage. So while any number of the same scenerios might play out – lesbian sex, threesomes, felating the pool boy, kinky sex with the boss, bondage – the women are most definitely getting off in situations that sport a refreshing element of humanity.
Maybe if this type of girl porn was more widely available, we'd have more women openly exploring the genre.
But then again, maybe not.
Porn, with all it's bad publicity (both deserved and undeserved) remains mostly anathema to many women – whether for anti-porn feminist sentiment, moral reasons or ignorance.
The overwhelming sentiment still seems to be that porn is 'something men do' and that good women don't get turned on by it (or at the very least don't admit to getting turned on by it).
Of course, some men get a kick out of this perception of porn being some sort of boys club and some women like to distance themselves from anything that might challenge their concept of female sexuality. And vice versa.
As for myself, although I enjoyed the excursion into girl porn I won't be maxing out my credit card any time soon. At least not until the next Mr Man, in which case I'll put it on his.
