I am certain that there are many readers of the Women24 Careers website who can empathise with your situation, especially when you have been working in an industry in which you have not been getting the job satisfaction that you would like.
I think that you are correct to start looking for a new position, but, and I do want to emphasis this point very strongly, it is important that you continue to show commitment and enthusiasm in your current position. It is true that you might apply for a new position very soon, but you do not wish your chances of success as a short-listed candidate in the new company to be affected by an adverse reference when they contact your current employers for a reference on you, your abilities and your work ethic.
You have not noted the industry that you are working in or the position that you hold, but it might be a good idea to carefully consider the new industry that you wish to enter and to see whether you have the correct qualifications and experience to do so. It might be an idea to think about preparing yourself for such a career in such a way that will make you more marketable when you apply for new positions.
And, remember to ensure that you have a good CV that will “sell” you to a prospective new employer – but that is a whole different question at this time.
Good luck with your future endeavours!
