Getting married? Our readers share some of their best tips that have helped them during, on and after their big day.

Getting married is not for sissies.  Deciding to do it without a planner? Well, either you’re braver than the average woman or you have great organisational skills and the added ability to remain cool, calm and collected throughout the entire planning process.

That said, when it comes down to it, no bride-to-be can get her wedding in perfect form without some help and advice along the way. We’ve asked some of our Facebook fans to share some of the best tips they’ve been given that has helped them to turn their day into one of the most magical days of their lives.

Here’s what they had to say:

Lianne: Make sure you get the photographer to design and do your wedding album for you. Brides just never get around to doing them and if they do, it's just not as good as the professionals. Pay a little bit extra – and get it done right!

Anelda: Don’t listen to all the advice people freely hand out to you.

Hasina: Don’t stress about things that are not in your control.

Chana: Stop and take a breath every once and a while on your wedding day, because as soon as you blink it will be over.

Nasika: There is life after a wedding and no need to buy the R30 000 outfit that you’re never going to wear again.

Gail: Don't walk down the aisle imagining “I'll alter Him”. Be prepared to both alter and never leave God out of the equation. Marriage is an evolving institution so if you don't enjoy change, don't do it.

Angeliqueca: The day goes by so fast, and everything is so busy, so make sure that you take a few moments for just the two of you to spend together.

Chantal: DON'T get married! It’s cheaper that way.
