Classic wedding venues

Wine farm, beach and bush are all very well, but if you're looking for a classic wedding, the timeless favourites at the top of your wish list have to be...

The Mount Nelson, Cape Town

What's really special: The history and the beautifully manicured, picturesque grounds, backdrop to a thousand much-loved wedding photographs. The pre-wedding prep can also be taken care of in their gorgeous spa.

What they throw in: A complimentary night's stay at the hotel with a full English breakfast in the renowned Cape Colony restaurant. And a red carpet for making a grand entrance.

Lynton Hall, Pennington

What's really special: The manor house feel, and the fact that the whole place will be turned over to your wedding party. Also, chef Richard Carstens is one of the best in the country.

What they throw in: Rental of the garden pavilion includes everything from the space itself to the cutlery, crockery and linen. Add-ons include the full spectrum from helicopter trips to a baby-sitting service.

Info: 039 975 3122 or visit Lynton Hall's website.

The Michelangelo, Johannesburg

What's really special: It's the tallest building in Sandton and the views are fantastic. You could even marry in the Cupola Suite rather than the conventional ballroom and get 360° views from the balcony, a private heated pool, skyline bar, three en-suite bedrooms and room for 80 guests.
Also, there are several highly rated restaurants, including Pigalle, The Raj and Piccolo Mondo.

What they throw in: Newlyweds are treated to a bottle of French champagne and Belgian chocolate on their wedding night, compliments of The Michelangelo.

Info: 011 245 4369 or visit Legacy Hotel here.
